What is LGB?
In 1968, Wolfgang and Eberhard Richter created something unique: LGB, the world's first model
railroad for indoors and outdoors. Today, LGB still stands alone, far above conventional toy
trains:
LGB is big. The letters "LGB" stand for "Lehmann Gross Bahn" or "Lehmann's Big Train."
LGB trains are G-scale (generally 1:22.5) - four times larger than conventional HO-scale trains (1:87).
LGB trains are easy to put on the track, even for kids. Details on LGB trains are big enough to
see and strong enough to withstand frequent handling. But you can fit a full circle of LGB track
in space less than 1.3 meters (51 inches) wide.
LGB is quality. LGB quality is so high you can run your LGB trains outdoors, in the sun, in
the rain, even in the snow. Major body parts are made of impact- and weather-resistant materials.
Gearboxes are protected from dirt and moisture. Track rails are machined from solid virgin brass.
LGB quality is backed by service stations and representatives around the world. Most of all, LGB
quality is backed by the Richter family. We've been making quality toys for more than 120 years.
And if you need us tomorrow, we'll be there.
LGB is simple. LGB trains are designed for people who want to have fun with trains.
Track sections connect quickly without tools. Electrical connections are simple with
color-coded wires and terminals. Everything is made to work together … and work right.
Even advanced LGB technology is designed for simplicity. LGB digital sound locomotives work
automatically. You don't have to do anything but turn the throttle. The digital
"LGB Multi-Train System" lets you control up to 23 locos from the palm of your hand.
LGB is fun. LGB trains offer a unique way for families and friends to have fun
together. Everyone can load the trains. Everyone can run them. And everyone can help lay
the track, build the buildings and plant the flowers. With LGB, you don't just stare at a
TV or monitor. You can get outside, really talk to people and build your own railroad
empire. After all, if a hobby is really interactive, shouldn't more than your eyeballs move?
LGB is complete. The ever-growing LGB program includes more than 600 quality G-scale products.
There are steam locomotives, diesel locomotives, electric locomotives and more than 150 freight and
passenger cars. There are more than 30 different track sections. There are signals, overhead
catenary systems, bridges and figures. And with the LGB Power system of traditional analog and digital
Multi-Train System controls, you can operate any layout, from a starter set circle to a massive garden railway. |
